I am your (or your child's) Social Studies teacher. I am proud to work at Stephens and am truly happy to have found a place here. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. Although most people do not believe me when I say this, I really do enjoy teaching middle school because students are at an age when they are beginning to question and challenge the world around them. Social studies, with its emphasis on cultural issues, multiple perspectives, and social justice, is the perfect place to witness students' transformations as thinkers.
My educational background:
Master's of Education at Western Oregon University
I have worked in a variety of fields and lived all around the country. I would love to help you (your child) in preparing for the future. Ask me about becoming a: teacher, newspaper writer or editor, pastry cook, researcher, copy editor, political canvasser, restaurant server, or hydroceramics technician (dishwasher). Through my own experiences, I have also become very familiar with financial aid procedures, scholarship applications, resume writing, and other essential skills.
In addition to teaching, I coach distance runners in Track and Cross Country, as well as oversee the after-school basketball program at Stephens.
